    At Jacobs, we believe the well-being of our people is fundamental to our success. Our passion for safety and our courage to care for one another and our environment inspires mutual respect.

    Why BeyondZero??

    We are proud that in our culture, our people go beyond following rules, procedures and processes. Our goal is beyond driving statistics to zero. We believe our culture will make our people and communities safer and healthier. We look for ways to recognize and mitigate risks, on and off the job. We drive and promote healthy behavior and care for the environment. We have created a true culture of caring where genuine concern for each other makes it impossible to tolerate unsafe conditions or behaviors.

    Our HSE performance is enduring, industry leading and world-class.

    In FY19, we continued to demonstrate safety excellence with another year of zero employee fatalities at work, and a total recordable incident rate of 0.20, compared to the North American Industry Classification System’s most recently reported aggregate rate of 0.70.

    During the year, the Environmental Business International (EBI) recognized Jacobs’ Mental Health Matters program for Social Contribution Merit and we also received a Silver Award in the Mind Workplace Wellbeing Index, recognizing our progress and commitment to the mental wellness of our employees. These are two of many awards that Jacobs has received relating to our mental health matters program, which continues to develop a more inclusive environment where people feel safe, healthy and supported.

    As part of our Mental Health Matters?program, we introduced Positive Mental Health Champions, training our employees in?how to guide staff who have mental health concerns or crises, to the appropriate level of help; support fellow employees; and encourage positive mental health throughout the workplace using the Five Ways to Wellbeing:

    1. Take Notice: Be curious. Catch sight of the beautiful. Remark on the unusual.
    2. Give: Do something nice for a friend, or a stranger. Thank someone. Smile.
    3. Be Active: Go for a walk or run. Step outside. Cycle. Play a game. Dance.
    4. Connect: Learn more about the people around you. Spend time with family, get involved at work, school or in your local community.
    5. Keep Learning: Try something new. Rediscover an old interest. Sign up for that course.

    With this new initiative, we've now trained?1,450 Positive Mental Health Champions, including 90% of our global senior leadership team, helping efforts to normalize the conversation throughout Jacobs.
